James Arthur
My interest in photography goes back to childhood. I moved to Barton Turf in 2013 after a working lifetime as a civil engineer which has taken me to over 60 countries. I most enjoy the subjects which people often see but do not notice – a familiar object in a different light, a reflection, a shadow - and am now experimenting more with monochrome images which can have a greater impact without the distraction of colour.
I have taken snapshots since I was about 10 but started serious photography in the digital era. A variety of photographic tutors have given me insights into photography. I gained a Licentiate distinction from the Royal Photographic Society in 2008.
I challenge myself to always try and improve the quality of my images in both artistic and technical aspects as time passes.
